EastEnders star Laura Doddington has explained Nicola and Teddy Mitchell’s “jeopardy” following this week’s death reveal.
Four years ago Nicola killed her son Harry’s ex-girlfriend Shireen and she recently found out that her ex-husband Teddy was planning a construction project on the burial site.
In yesterday’s episode, Teddy finally found out the truth about her deadly crime after Nicola tried to enlist Ravi to dispose of the body, but Ravi told all to Teddy.
In scenes set to air next week, Teddy threatens to expose Nicola’s sinister past to Harry and Nicola enlists Benji, the man who previously helped her get rid of Shireen’s body, to dispose of the body again.
After Nicola makes plans to sell Harry’s Barn to pay Benji, Teddy senses that Nicola is disappointed and takes matters into his own hands, finding a solution and swinging into action.
Asked what Nicola’s reaction is when Teddy takes matters into his own hands, Doddington said: “She’s shocked when he goes rogue! Nicola thought this was her show and she was the puppet master, so she wasn’t expecting Teddy to take control like this.
“She thinks she can call all the shots and have his support. The trouble is that now they are playing with fire and may well just get burned! It’s exciting to see them in such jeopardy.”
On how Nicola is feeling now that the past has come back to haunt her, Doddington said that her character is feeling “cornered”.

“Cornered is the best way to describe Nicola right now,” she said. “She’s like an animal caught in a corner and lashing out to try to protect herself. But the inevitable landslide is happening because Nicola’s lies are unravelling.”
Teasing what happens during Nicola and Teddy’s meeting with Benji, Doddington said: “It’s like a game of poker and there is manipulation from all parties at the table. They are all behaving as if they have the winning hand.”
