Taylor Sheridan’s broken his silence on Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone exit, and it’s as dramatic as you’d expect. After months of speculation about behind-the-scenes tension, Sheridan set the record straight in an interview with THR.

He shared, praising Costner’s portrayal of John Dutton as symbolic and powerful. The drama reportedly kicked off when Costner wanted to shorten his filming schedule, with Sheridan saying,

I’ve never had an issue with Kevin that he and I couldn’t work out on the phone. But once lawyers get involved, then people don’t get to talk to each other and start saying things that aren’t true and attempt to shift blame based on how the press or public seem to be reacting. He took a lot of this on the chin and I don’t know that anyone deserves it.

Costner’s upcoming Horizon saga was cited as the actor’s priority, with Sheridan throwing in, “I hope it’s worth it.”

Sheridan expressed disappointment over Costner’s departure, revealing it truncates the closure of Dutton’s arc. As for rumors of heated disagreements? Sheridan said he never told Costner to stick to acting.
