Yellowstone fans have rushed to Beth Dutton’s defence after one viewer
unexpectedly branded the character as the “biggest threat to the ranch”
on social media.Yellowstone aficionados jumped to Beth Dutton’s defence
on social media after a fan labelled her “the biggest threat to the ranch”. Played by Kelly Reilly, Beth is the feisty daughter of the Dutton familys head honcho, John Dutton, enacted by Kevin Costner.
This controversy sparked in the Yellowstone community after the comments surfaced on social media just as viewers await with bated breath for the release of season 5, part 2 on November 10, already abuzz from teasers and the news about Costner stepping away from the hit Paramount+ series, reports the Express.
On Reddit, user @oriolesravensfan1090 incited some discussion with a post questioning Beths intentions: “Is Beth the biggest threat to the Yellowstone Dutton ranch?”
They elaborated, spotting potential hazards in Beth’s approach: “As I am rewatching the show I have noticed that Beth seems to be the biggest threat to the ranch, at least inadvertently, her treatment of Jamie pushes him to turn against the family and the ranch, and causes more problems than she fixes. I do understand why she hates Jamie but that hatred threatens the ranch.”
Beth’s fans did not take long to swoop into the comments section with staunch defences of their beloved character, asserting that she’s actually putting in efforts to “save” the ranch, unlike other family members. One supporter asserted: “No. She’s trying to save it.”
Backing up this sentiment, another fan recalled a pivotal moment, explaining: “There’s that scene in which John tells her how much money it’s going to cost to move the cattle. She realizes it’s too much money.”
Bringing up a strategic move by Beth, the fan added: “She calls some beef processing house. She decides they can cut out the middleman to save money.”
“No. She isn’t the one working with Market Equities to develop it,” one person insisted, while another was quick to point out: “No the biggest threat is John Dutton.”
Echoing that sentiment, someone else slammed John as the real issue, saying: “Hands down, the biggest threat is John Dutton. What a piece of human garbage.”
A fan didn’t hold back their criticism, stating: “If you can’t foster decent relations with your neighbours, and you have to control people by making them believe you have the power to give second chances and you’ll happily watch your children fight each other or drink themselves to death, you deserve to have it stolen from under you. Kudos to Kevin Costner for playing the character so well because he makes me viscerally angry.”
Joining the debate, another viewer pointed the finger at Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), asserting: “Jamie is. Any time he doesn’t get what he wants, he loses all common sense and does something he can’t take back or fix. Repeatedly.”
Some partially concurred with the original stance, with a comment reading: “Yeah I agree that Beth is a threat with how she treats people but at the same time she is thinking about how the range can survive in the future and how they need to change with the times.”
And yet another person weighed in, suggesting: “Good question. I’d say it starts with John, but is made much worse by Beth and her hatred. Separately, they are both problematic. Together it’s a perfect storm.”
The excitement is mounting as Paramount+ has confirmed that Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 will drop on Sunday, November 10.
