It’s the beginning of the end for “Yellowstone,” as production has now begun on the final episodes of the megahit series.

The show is once again shooting in Montana on the second half of its fifth season. The first half, which consisted of eight episodes,

originally aired between November 2022 and January 2023. The second and final installment, which will consist of six episodes,

is slated to debut on Paramount Network in November.

As was previously reported, production on the final episodes of the series was delayed in 2023 due to the dual writers’ and actors’ strikes that shut down most of Hollywood. It was also previously reported that “Yellowstone” star Kevin Costner would be exiting the series in Season 5, reportedly over his desire to focus on the epic Western feature “Horizon,” which would have seriously impacted his availability to film “Yellowstone.” The first part of the film is scheduled to be released in June 2024, with Part 2 following in August.Part 1 of “Horizon” recently had its debut at the Cannes film festival, with Costner telling the crowd they can expect an additional two films in the “Horizon” series

Paramount has also commissioned two new series set within the world of “Yellowstone” — “1944” and a contemporary series currently titled “2024.” No further details have been released about either series since they were originally announced in November 2023. “2024” will reportedly feature new cast members and locations with some crossover characters as well.

“Yellowstone” was created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. Both serves as executive producers along with Costner, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros, and Keith Cox. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios and is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
