Coronation Street airs final Daisy twist – with five exit messages

Coronation Street aired a final twist as Daisy Midgeley left Weatherfield, with the departing character leaving five letters.

Daisy made the decision to leave the cobbled streets for Brighton earlier this week amid the drama between her mother Christina Boyd and Jenny Connor, with Friday’s (2 May) episode beginning as she planned her exit.

After bidding farewell to former flames Ryan and Kit, Daisy said a frosty farewell to Daniel before Jenny begged her once more to stay. Despite promises of a clean slate, Daisy reiterated that they both needed a “fresh start”.

As Daisy was about to leave, an emotional Daniel sprinted to catch up with her for one final conversation, with Daniel declaring his love for Daisy as he pledged to move with her along with Bertie.

Despite his romantic gesture, Daisy explained that they had been “punishing each other” for the past two years and their relationship was not “healthy”, reasoning that Daniel belonged in Weatherfield as it was his “home”.

Jenny, meanwhile, was in bits after the £60k she had stored away for an investment had gone missing, with Christina returning to the Rovers and immediately being in the firing line. After going over the facts, Christina twigged that Daisy had taken off with the money, leaving Jenny in tatters.

As she eventually bid farewell, it was revealed that Daisy had left handwritten notes for five residents – Kit, Daniel, Ryan, Julie and Jenny.

Accompanying Julie’s letter was a wad of cash, which she was urged to donate to a charity of her choice.

Kit, meanwhile, was given a bottle of alcohol, with Daisy telling him to have a drink on her as a thank you for putting her mother in a cell for the night. While Ryan was ordered to buy some new decks, with Daisy wanting to see him on the dance floor.

Daniel and Bertie were granted a pair of tickets to Disneyland Paris. “Make sure you go for breakfast with all of the characters,” Daisy wrote, before telling them both she loved them.

The note to Jenny simply read: “Goodbye, and for what it’s worth, I am sorry.” Upon reading the letter, Jenny broke down in tears.

As she bid farewell to Weatherfield, it was revealed that Daisy wasn’t actually heading to Brighton at all, but rather the exotic Bali. She put on her sunglasses and smiled as the taxi headed towards the airport.
