Emmerdale actress Olivia Bromley, who portrays Dawn Fletcher, has shared her dissatisfaction with her character on the ITV soap.
Olivia Bromley, who portrays Dawn Fletcher, made her debut on the show in 2018 – and quickly became embroiled in numerous high-profile storylines in the iconic village.
From battling drug addiction and homelessness to dealing with tragic family deaths and her son Evan’s shocking leukaemia diagnosis, Dawn’s life in the Dales has been anything but dull.
Earlier this year, she surprised viewers by beginning an affair with Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), who returned after a six-year absence. At the time, she was mourning the death of her father Will (Dean Andrews).
He passed away at Christmas, and as well as that, Dawn was grappling with Evan’s leukaemia diagnosis. In her quest for solace, she cheated on her husband Billy (Jay Kontzle) with Joe under the same roof.
However, this month saw Dawn decide to be with Joe, ending her relationship with Billy and leaving him devastated.
Despite being involved in several major plotlines on the soap, Olivia has previously disclosed the part of her role that she finds most displeasing.
“I hate Dawn’s wardrobe with a passion. It depresses me – I can’t lie. I wish she could be as glamorous as Kim Tate. Unfortunately, I’m saddled with drab jumpers,” she confessed to Inside Soap, reports Leicestershire Live.
Olivia stated: “But it says a lot about her – she’s not thinking about how she looks. There used to be this big fluffy black coat. But it’s horrible. She can’t wear that anymore. I would love them to put some make-up on me.”
The actress also expressed a desire for her character to show a different side, who has been involved in some intense storylines over the years.
“I’ve always thought it would be nice for Dawn to display a different side of herself, which could be shown by working behind the bar, or doing some more comedy.
“Maybe alongside Charity and Chas because that is a totally different thing to play.”
