Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati, a character in EastEnders, first set foot in Walford in August 2022 as part of the Panesar family, and his nearly three-year stay on the Square has been anything but smooth.
The young lad has always lived with his shady father, Ravi Gulati (played by Aaron Thiara), after they were estranged from Nugget’s mother, Priya Nandra-Hart (portrayed by Sophie Khan Levy), when he was just an infant.
In October 2023, Nugget fled home to reunite with his mum, Priya. In the process, he found out he had a younger sister named Avani Nandra-Hart (played by Aaliyah James) whom Priya had kept hidden from Ravi, her former drug dealer.
Last year, Nugget’s life teetered on the edge after he ingested a lethal dose of steroids. He was diagnosed with kidney failure, which necessitated long-term dialysis.
Despite his health scare and near-death experience, Nugget still took a massive gamble by aiding his dangerous grandfather, Nish Panesar (played by Navin Chowdhry), in his prison escape, reports Plymouth Live.
However, on New Year’s Day, Nugget was heartbroken when his beloved Nish died after being shoved off a hotel balcony by Ravi.
Even though Nish was a violent and dangerous man who had tried to murder Suki Panesar (played by Balvinder Sopal) and her partner, Eve Unwin (played by Heather Peace), Nugget found it hard to accept his loss and chastised his family for not attending Nish’s funeral.
It was also disclosed that businessman Nish had left all his assets in trust for Nugget and Avani.
How old is Nugget in EastEnders?
Off the EastEnders set, Juhaim Rasul Choudhury, who plays Nugget, leads a life quite different from his on-screen persona.
Reportedly aged 20, Choudhury hails from the London Borough of Brent and received his education in Slough.
In contrast, his character Nugget is portrayed as a 16-year-old student at Walford High.
EastEnders appears to be Choudhury’s first significant acting gig since he embarked on his professional acting journey three years ago.
