Centered around the fictional firefighters and paramedics at

the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Station 118, the ABC series follows their lives at work and at home, along with the police officers and 911 dispatchers they work closely with.

“It’s really exciting to be a part of this comic book series that’s come to life as a first responder. Because we go through things that some people don’t necessarily survive, but that’s the language of the show,” Peter Krause told PEOPLE after the season 7 finale. “It’s about perseverance and redemption, moving forward, having family and supporting each other.
