The two characters’ relationship seems to be a major quick burner.
There are plenty of reasons why we love romantic dramas – they’re exciting,
engaging, and emotional. But love stories are undeniably the main factor behind our interest in such shows.
Over the past few years, Netflix has produced a number of romance dramas that have become immensely popular with fans around the world. Virgin River is perhaps the most famous show of its ilk. Over the course of its five-year run, it has offered us a multitude of relationships to swoon over. However, there’s one character who’s been completely unlucky in love – Preacher Lawson. Fortunately, he seems to have met a loving woman in the 5th season of the show. But their love arc is not very convincing.
A New Addition to the Show
For many viewers, seasons 3 and 4 of Virgin River seemed a bit stagnant. It’s unclear whether it was the confusing timeline or the complete uneventfulness that contributed to this, but viewers were starting to lose interest in the show. Fortunately, the recent fifth installment turned out to be full of various events.
Season 5 of Virgin River focuses on wildfires that sweep through the titular town and the surrounding forests. As a result, the show introduces a group of firefighters who come to the rescue. Kaia Bryant is one of them.
When Preacher meets her, they both feel passionate about each other. The chemistry between them is palpable. Of course, the relationship develops quickly. But it doesn’t really help to sell the romance to the audience.
Unsubstantial
Essentially, it is titillating to watch Preacher and Kaia’s passionate romance, but it comes across as a mere fling. The two characters appear to be head over heels in love, but in reality, they haven’t even learned much about one another.
However, by the end of Part 1 of Virgin River’s fifth season, Preacher and Kaia appear to have moved in together. Such a rapid turn of events makes many viewers uneasy, wary of potential heartbreak for the show’s ultimate good guy.
Looks like we’ll have to wait for the second part of the season with two Christmas specials to find out if Preacher and Kaia are right for each other. The premiere is scheduled for November 30.
