Netflix has launched the project of ‘Virgin River’ prequel, reports ‘Deadline’.

Besides, it has also started the production of ‘Virgin River’ Season 6 Vancouver

in Canada and it may premiere in 2025. The ‘Virgin River’ prequel will be an

original story that will revolve around Mel’s late mother, Sarah. It will narrate her love story with Everett Reid, who would become Mel’s biological father. Virgin River showrunner Patrick Sean Smith will write the script for the prequel. Season 6 will feature feature young Everett and Sarah in flashbacks.

Alexandra Breckenridge plays Mel, a midwife and nurse practitioner. She moves to the small town of Virgin River in Northern California in search of peace and tranquility. Martin Henderson, Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, and Lauren Hammersley have appeared in ‘Virgin River’. Besides, the star cast also includes Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, and Benjamin Hollingsworth. John Allen Nelson portrays Everett, he was introduced in the Christmas special 2023.

Much before the prequel arrives, in the Season 5 finale Mel’s sister Joey discovered a man’s love letters to their mother that revealed him to be Mel’s biological father. Mel and Jack try to resolve the mystery man that eventually leads them to Everett Reid. Initially, he wanted nothing to do with Mel, but by the end of the special, he came around and asked to be part of her life.

‘Virgin River’ is based on the novels by Robyn Carr. It premiered in December 2019 on Netflix. Virgin River Season 5 came to an end with two holiday-themed episodes in November 2023. The writers’ team for Virgin River includes Patrick Sean Smith, Erin Cardillo, Richard Keith, Tesia Joy Walker,
