Virgin River fans ‘disappointed’ over Charmaine baby twist ‘Validates ugly stereotypes’

VIRGIN RIVER fans shared their disappointment at the show’s baby twist, slamming it as “ugly” and stereotypical.

Virgin River fans have jumped to the defence of Charmaine in the midst of the baby drama. Feeling she was cheated

out of a role with more depth, they blamed writers for pitting women against each other for the sake of “ugly” drama.

Virgin River season four’s finale had fans in a frenzy but it was one baby detail that didn’t sit so well.

Hitting screens this week, having patiently waited to know who the father was, fans were left disappointed with the show’s twist.

Simmering over from season three, tuning into the next instalment viewers hoped to finally know who the father to Mel’s unborn child was.

After much speculation, it was revealed Jack was indeed the biological dad.

However, as one mystery was solved another was dangled over fans’ heads in the final seconds of the new series finale.

When Jack’s ex-girlfriend Charmaine calls the bar owner for help with a medical emergency, he never could have expected what came next.

Mel and Jack arrive at the house to find a tearful expectant mother of twins.

Blaming karma, she claims she is being punished for lying and reveals her babies are not Jack’s after all.

Reacting to this final twist, audiences were less than impressed.

Reddit user ToasterGuacamoleWrap shared: “I’m not surprised about the Charmaine thing but I gotta say I’m kinda disappointed.

“The whole “evil wimmin baby traps man” storyline is played out and I feel like it validates ugly stereotypes.

“She’s just the one-dimensional, cartoonishly evil obstacle between Jack and Mel and it makes me sad, because Lauren Hammersley seems like a good actress who could do more.”
