The second part of season 5 of Virgin River arrives on Netflix on

November 30th, bringing with it two special Christmas episodes.

We are less than a month away from the release of the second part

of the fifth season of Virgin River, scheduled for November 30th. And this new year brought to light a series of events that shook the city. However, among all the plot twists, what caught the most fans’ attention was the revelation that Mel’s (Alexandra Breckenridge) father resides in Virgin River. This information divided fans, with many finding the idea a bit far-fetched, but overall, it left the public eager to discover the identity of this mysterious man.

For the first time since its launch in 2019, Virgin River presents a split season. Furthermore, the so-called second part of the fifth season consists of just a two-episode Christmas special, which is also a first for the series.

Producers speak out

Fans quickly profiled every older man in town, coming up with various theories about the identity of Mel’s father. Although there were several candidates, it was clear that this was a well-known character.

About this, the series’ producers are mysterious, but they made it clear that, with the exception of Jack’s father (Martin Henderson), everyone is a suspect.

“I think the fun of the next two [Christmas] episodes is looking around and realizing it could be anyone in Virgin River,” Virgin River producer Patrick Sean Smith said in an interview. “So, except for Jack’s father, everyone else is a suspect.”

Is Doc Mel’s father?

With the revelation about Mel’s father, all eyes turned to Doc (played by Tim Matheson). This happened due to the solid relationship they built throughout the series, which makes him the ideal candidate to be Mel’s father. However, so far, we have no confirmation.

Naturally, the series’ creators have received several requests to confirm the characters’ bond. However, they have been elusive and mysterious so far.

It looks like we’ll have to wait until November 30th, when the Christmas episodes are released, to find out if our suspicions are confirmed.
