Emmerdale fans have ‘figured out’ who 𝕕ies in ice lake after huge clue

Fans of ITV soap Emmerdale have seemingly worked out who will die in the upcoming frozen lake stunt.

As 2025 began, Emmerdale released a trailer with flashforward clips. They featured

characters including Caleb Miligan (William Ash), Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb)

and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), as well as a hand being trapped under an icy lake.

The show then released more details about the stunt, which was filmed before Christmas.

Discussing what’s ahead, producer Laura Shaw said: ‘With winter nights having drawn in, our audience are enjoying cosy nights indoors whilst our fantastic team at Emmerdale have been recording gripping drama to bring to their screens.

‘The stunning backdrop of the village, from its rugged woodland to its wilder landscapes, set the perfect stage for what’s to come. I’m thrilled for our audience to experience these episodes as they unfold, taking them on a chilling—quite literally—and perilous journey across the frozen ice.’

Of course, many fans of the show are now speculating who will end up trapped in the lake.

With Susan Cookson, Roxy Shahidi, Lesley Dunlop and Paula Lane all set to leave the show, one person top of the theory list right now is Paula’s character Ella Forster.

Early December last year, Lisa Riley shared a selfie alongside Paula. The Emmerdale legend plays Mandy Dingle in the show, who is also Ella’s best mate.

She wrote alongside: ‘Love this girl so much @paula_laney…..cheeky Christmas lunch together at @the_ivy_collection #leeds before we have a night shoot @emmerdale tonight. The Christmas spirit in here is sparkling.’

It was this post noting the night shoot, alongside the knowledge Paula is leaving the show, that has got many audience members on X wondering if Ella won’t survive the crash.

Another possibility circulating right now is that Leyla will end up under the ice, based on previous speculation the character is being killed off.

Also in the flashforward trailer, Mackenzie was seen running from someone in the woods, a body was being dumped in the river, Caleb was in hospital, and Cain was stood by a freshly dug grave.

Many fans of the ITV soap are now wondering if Cain will be saying goodbye to son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), after he suddenly left the village last year.
