This article contains spoilers for Thursday’s (July 18) EastEnders, which has not yet aired
on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer. Ian and Cindy Beale (Adam Woodyatt
and Michellle Collins) may have agreed to put the past behind them and move on as a
happy family – but that was never going to last long with Cindy around. The couple recently suffered a huge blip when Cindy discovered that Ian was visiting ex-wife Jane Beale (Laurie Brett). Jane was responsible for covering up Bobby Beale’s (Clay Milner Russell) murder of sister Lucy – Cindy’s daughter – so the atmosphere between them was frosty to say the least. After a huge row between the family, Cindy stormed off, with Ian deciding to stay with Jane. However, she soon convinced him to go after Cindy, encouraging him to choose a happy life with her. The Vic was buzzing after Elaine Peacock’s (Harriet Thorpe) announcement that she and George Knight (Colin Salmon) had set a wedding date, but jealous Cindy couldn’t celebrate. Already affected by ex-husband George’s happy news, Cindy was left extra disappointed when Ian later revealed that he had a ‘grand gesture’ for her – only for him to have synced their calendars. How romantic… Overwhelmed, Cindy made excuses to leave, before meeting up with former fling and ex-step-son Junior Knight (Micah Balfour).
Cindy and Junior have slept together before, but amid her new start with Ian, Cindy decided that she wanted nothing more to do with him. It didn’t take her long to go back on her word though, as she climbed into the car beside him. When Junior asked what had happened to ‘family’, Cindy explained that she felt pulled down by Ian and wanted to feel something, but insisted that her change of heart had nothing to do with George and Elaine’s wedding news. With the pair driving off to embark on a passionate affair, will they be able to keep it under wraps, or are they soon set to be caught out?
