Coronation Street fans are speculating that a soap stalwart might return to rescue Sean Tully from the clutches of thug Mick Michaelis.
Sean, portrayed by Antony Cotton, has been a fixture on the soap since the early 2000s, making his first appearance in 2003. Over the years, he’s evolved into one of the show’s most iconic and cherished characters.
The Rovers Return barman has also been central to numerous major storylines over the years – from his series of unsuccessful romances to becoming a father to Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).
Recently on the cobbles, things took a distressing turn when newcomer Mick (Joe Layton) brutally assaulted Sean.
As fans will remember, Sean’s son Liam is currently in the STC (Secure Training Centre) following his involvement in the death of Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan). His stint there has been fraught with difficulties, as he’s being tormented by bully Brody (Ryan Mulvey), reports Leicestershire Live.
In a shocking DNA revelation, it was disclosed that Brody is actually the son of Mick and Lou (Farrel Hegarty). However, after Sean reported Brody and his behaviour, Mick assured Brody that he would handle the problem, referring to Sean.
Subsequently, Sean was discovered beaten and bloodied after Mick attacked him – an incident Sean reported to the police. However, after Sean’s friend Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) was threatened by Mick, Sean altered his statement.
Now, as Mick’s reign of terror unfolds on screen causing upheaval for the residents, viewers believe a former resident could be returning to put an end to his antics.
On a dedicated Coronation Street Facebook fan page, viewers have been sharing their thoughts on current plot lines with one saying: “Sooner Mick and Lou leave the better!” Amidst these story developments, fans are clamouring for the return of a well-loved character.
Another added: “He’s vile, they need to get Liz McD back she wouldn’t stand for any of this!” This sentiment is echoed by another fan who concurred: “Definitely!”.
Soap icon Liz first graced the cobbles in 1989 and quickly became a favourite among fans. Known for her close friendship with Sean, Liz was a long-standing landlady at the Rovers Return Inn for a substantial period until her departure from the show in 2020.
