*This* Season 1 Cast Member Might Be Coming Back to Fire Country!

Season 2 of Fire Country is officially underway, but a member

of the Cal Fire squad is missing in action. Bode’s best friend

and fellow inmate Freddy Mills (played by W. Tré Davis)

has yet to appear on Season 2 following his release from prison in the Season 1 finale. Is Freddy coming back to Fire Country? Keep reading to find out.

Fire Country is CBS’ drama series centered on firefighters and inmates at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (also known as Cal Fire). It stars Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan, a young convict with a troubled past who joins the inmate firefighter program to redeem himself and shorten his prison sentence. Bode is assigned to his hometown in Northern California, where he must work alongside his former friends and other inmates as they fight wild fires that plague the region. Thieriot co-created the show based off of his own experience of growing up in fire country.

The series first premiered in 2022 and is currently on its second season. Rounding out the cast is Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez; Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford; Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez; Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards; Diane Farr as Sharon Leone; Billy Burke as Vince Leone and several new Season 2 cast additions.

W. Tré Davis had a recurring role on Season 1 as Freddy Mills, an inmate that enlists in the Cal Fire program alongside Bode. Freddy was wrongfully convicted, and spent much of the first season trying to prove his innocence and get back to his fiancée, Cookie, and daughter. His early release was put in jeopardy when Bode’s former prison mate Sleeper (Grant Harvey) showed up at Three Rock and begins distributing drugs around the camp. In the Season 1 finale, Bode took the fall for the drug trade in order to get Freddy released and the plan worked, but Bode ended up back in jail for six months.

Now that Bode is back in Edgewater to resume the Cal Fire program, fans have been wondering where Freddy is and if he’s going to return to the show in Season 2. We have all the details below.

Is Freddy coming back to Fire Country?

Is Freddy coming back to Fire Country? With no sign of Freddy so far in Season 2, the odds of him returning to the show are slim, but fans are still holding out hope for a guest appearance or at least an update on the character. While speaking to TV Insider, executive producers Tony Phelan and Joan Rater revealed that they have been “talking about the possibility of checking in on” Freddy, but noted that they “don’t have anything yet.” They added: “We’re very excited for Freddy that he’s out there. We assume he is doing quite well with Cookie [Katrina Reynolds] and with his new baby.”Considering the lengths Bode went to to save him, we assumed Freddy would at least show up when Bode was released from prison to thank him. However, a new cast member has joined Season 2 and he’ll most likely serve as a replacement for Freddy. Cole (played by Ty White) is a former MMA fighter and Bode’s cellmate. He was introduced in the Season 2 opener and will now be joining the Cal Fire program alongside Bode.

“Cole gives us a character who’s new to Three Rock, and so we will see how Cole and Bode develop this friendship and how Bode can kind of show him the ropes,” the EPs said of the new character. Referencing the big Season 2 reveal that Bode is the father of Cara’s (Sabina Gadecki) daughter Genevieve, they added: “Especially now that Bode is determined to be a different kind of inmate firefighter than he was last season—maybe a little less jumping into the middle of things without thinking about it, a little less hot-headed, because he’s got more at stake now.”

Since Bode now has to step into his new role as a father, we think Freddy should return in a guest appearance to offer him some sage parenting advice — from one new dad to the other.
