There’s always something exciting brewing on The Young and the Restless.
Actor Joshua Morrow, aka Nick Newman, has something to say about one
of the most debated dynamics on the soap. Fans love comparing Nick and
Sharon to the legendary power couple Victor and Nikki. But Morrow says it’s not that simple. In fact, it’s like comparing apples and oranges. Why is it? Find out!
Why ‘Shick’ Falls Short of Victor and Nikki’s Legacy
There’s a key player in Nick and Sharon’s story that Victor and Nikki never had to deal with. Yep, we’re talking about Phyllis. For Morrow, the presence of Phyllis in the mix is a game-changer on The Young and the Restless. Moreover, the Y&R actor thinks that Phyllis will always be a problem for them. But don’t get it twisted, as he isn’t complaining.
In fact, the love triangle involving Sharon, Nick, and Phyllis is one of his favorite storylines. Joshua explained, “That elevated Nick’s character into a completely different echelon of leading man if you will.” There’s no denying that Nick’s romantic history is a bit of a rollercoaster, with two important ladies at the center.
On one side, there’s Sharon, the quintessential young love. Their relationship has that classic “Romeo and Juliet” vibe—beautiful, passionate, and heartbreaking. Additionally, the duo have caused each other pain, but their deep connection persists. On the other side is Phyllis, who entered Nick’s life at a dark time. Morrow admits, “She literally saved Nick’s life after Cassie died.”
