The Fire Country season 3 trailer spoils what interrupts Gabriela and Diego’s wedding

Fire Country season 3 will pick up right where the season 2 finale left off

but not in the way you might think! The trailer puts us back in the pew,

bearing witness to Gabriela and Diego’s wedding once more but the couple don’t get to exchange vows.

There is an interruption, a BIG one, but it’s not because Bode comes storming back into the church after talking with his uncle Luke about reclaiming his legacy. In fact, what puts a definite pause on the nuptials we’ve been waiting months to see conclude, is an incident we should have expected–a life-altering crash!

As the trailer shows, Gabriela is right in the middle of answering whether she’ll take Diego as her husband and fate intervenes before she can speak. Something flys through the church’s stained glass window and then this crew is off, rushing into help in the aftermath of a helicopter crash landing.

Notably, outside of the chaotic and heart-pounding action the trailer gives us a glimpse of, Gabriela’s concern isn’t about her wedding or the life she seemed ready to have with Diego. No, her voiceover is all about Bode and how he left in the middle of the ceremony. She says, “Why did you leave my wedding? I looked back and you were gone.”

It’s a loaded question considering Gabriela knows Bode has feelings for her. They kissed in season 2’s penultimate episode, “No Future, No Consequences,” and she’s the one who said she needed to think with her head and not her heart. Bode chose not to interrupt her wedding because Manny told him that she was happy.

But the two will be working together on this incident so the conversation will come up and potentially things are set to get steamy for them. While it’s possible we’re being teased with a dream sequence, if it’s real, something tells me things aren’t going to be so cut and dry.Bode’s a free man for the first time in years. Even if Gabriela doesn’t get married to Diego, she still made a choice to move on from him. They really aren’t in the headspace to be trying anything serious at this point. So, short of an intimate moment together, we could be in for the two navigating singlehood and figuring out how to be friends. One character I’m curious about is Audrey James, played by Leven Rambin. The ex-con is in a position that Bode desperately wants–she’s a Cal Fire cadet. She’s made the transition after being in an inmate fire camp that he’d hoped to make as well. The union are in Bode’s way right now but perhaps Audrey may be able to give him some advice.

The character is speculated to be a new love interest for our leading man which does imply that whatever happens in the season 3 premiere between Bode and Gabriela isn’t going get them too far down romance lane.
