When sifting through Season 9 of “Chicago Fire” to determine the best scenes shared
by fan favorites Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), longtime
viewers may get stuck in choosing. As veteran “Fire” watchers can attest, the Brettsey
couple had a long, eventful and sometimes tumultuous evolution from acquaintance to friendship to something intense much more. As seen in Seasons 3 through 7 of the series, Casey, firefighter Truck 81, and paramedic Brett are essentially learning to trust each other and gradually becoming closer as friends. Of course, the focus of the story at this point is Casey’s romance and eventual marriage to fellow first responder Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymond). After Casey and Dawson divorced in Season 7, the path was cleared for Casey and Brett’s chemistry to heat up, although they still chose professionalism and friendship over romance. However, by Season 9, their relationship has grown to the point where they can no longer deny the feelings they have for each other.
With all of the above just a prelude, what stands out from Season 9 of “Chicago Fire” as the best moment for the good ship Brettsey? The Brettsey kiss in season 9 was a hot highlight The culmination of the multi-season Brettsey saga reaches its much-anticipated resolution in the final episode of Season 9 “No Survivors.” At night at the fire station, Casey steps outside to enjoy the atmosphere, where Brett joins him and finally tells him outright that she loves him. Moments later, they share a passionate kiss that, finally, uncertainly seals their relationship. So, was the high-temperature Casey-Brett kiss the best Brettsey moment of Season 9 of “Chicago Fire”? Well, we think Redditor u/RahanAlc’s post on r/ChicagoFireNBC sums it up perfectly: “Brettsey Kiss just hit 1.5 [million] views on #OneChicago’s YT channel :>”
