Kelvin Fletcher hasn’t been able to hold back in getting involved in Emmerdale’s latest storyline as the Sugden family drama continues to unfold.
Fans of the ITV soap will be aware that the actor-turned-farmer is best known for having played Andy Sugden in the Dales for 20 years.
He made his first on-screen appearance in 1996 as the adoptive son of Jack Sugden and Sarah Sugden. Kelvin remained in the role for two decades before leaving in 2016 and while it’s been seven years since Andy fled the village, viewers haven’t forgotten him.
And it appears Kelvin, who went on to win Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, can’t not keep up with the Emmerdale drama either as he reacted to Robert and John Sugden’s faux ‘truce’ during Wednesday’s (June 25) episode.
Fans were delighted earlier this month when Robert returned to the Dales to try and put a stop to ex Aaron Dingle marrying John. There was a brief moment where it seemed possible Aaron could change his mind as he secretly kissed Robert, however, he went on to turn him down and went ahead with marrying John.
But Robert’s comeback was short lived as he ended upback in prison after breaking his parole and during a special episode, he had two visitors – John and Aaron.
Now, Robert is back in the village, much to John’s dismay, and the secret killer is doing everything he can to keep him away from Aaron.
This week, John seemingly got a chance to get rid of Robert once and for all as he watched him get spiked. Robert had his drink drugged by a man he was on a date with. Conveniently, John was also at The Hide sorting his van out, and watched the situation unfold.
Desperate to get rid of his half-brother, John spotted his opportunity and waited for Robert to drink the liquid, threw him in the van, and drove off.

But during the mid-week trip to the Dales, it was revealed that John didn’t go as far as murdering his sibling. Instead, he called Victoria, who agreed with the idea of keeping Robert in the van overnight while the drug wore off but when Robert woke, he was horrifed to see John with a needle.
A fight unsued before John said it was just a sedative to keep him calm and Victoria backed up his story. Later, she brought the two together and encouraged them to call a truce, which she thinks she witnessed but it was all for show.
As a clip of their fake truce made its way to Emmerdale’s social media channels, and the post on Instagram caught Kelvin’s attention as he commented: “Don’t trust him Robert I’m telling you.”
And fans were quick to respond, with many calls for him to resprise the role of Andy in the show. @pinksweetheartxx said: “Get yourself back in there Kelvin and help him take him down.”
@erinbreen28 commented: “Get back and help him he needs backup.” @1973wrightstuff wrote: “Need you back now. Come on you know you want too. A little 6 weeks session.”
@paulinekirbyirl replied: “Come back and save your brother.” @catherinexx12 posted: “Come back Andy! 2 Sugdens against 1 would be awesome!” @lisajanewillows added: “Pop back. Sort your brothers and visit your daughter with her cancer and ivf story she needs her dad. Just a little stint. Come on Emmerdale.”
