EastEnders Terry Cant’s past role on beloved show as Sonia Fowler’s real dad debuts

EastEnders Terry Cant’s past role on a beloved BBC kids show has left fans stunned as Sonia Fowler’s real dad debuted on the show.

This week is seeing viewers of the BBC soap preparing to say goodbye to Natalie Cassidy’s character, who debuted all the way back in 1993.

In scenes that aired on Monday (April 14), Sonia and her sister Bianca were being watched by a mystery man for the majority of the episode.

The sisters were certain that the person spying on them was a fan of the podcast Bianca appeared on to talk about Sonia’s evil ex Reiss Colwell.

However, it was revealed at the end of the episode that the man was actually Terry Cant, who viewers may recall is Sonia’s long-lost father.

Mentioned all the way back in Sonia’s EatEnders debut year, Terry is a character who fans have waited over 30 years to see.

Back in 2021, Sonia thought she finally met her dad, when Brian Conley’s Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton, faked his identity to scam her.

Sonia was heartbroken to learn that Rocky had nothing to do with her father and was actually the brother of ‘Nasty’ Nick Cotton.

With Terry finally in Walford, viewers may recognise his actor Glen Davies from a number of the UK’s biggest shows.

Glen is an established soap actor, having appeared in the likes of Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Casually, Holby City Casualty over the years.

On top of this, he has popped up on Call the Midwife, Sherlock, Miranda, New Tricks, and Maggie Smith film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

The actor’s most known role is arguably as Andy Prank on the BBC children series Bear Behaving Badly, which saw him battling with Nev the bear.

EastEnders fans rushed to the show’s Reddit page to exclaim their shock at one of their favourite 2000s character’s popping up on Albert Square.

@ersephone_888 wrote: “Yesssssss!!!!!! My head immediately went ANGRY PANTSSS.” @pugdrop posted: “No wonder he looked familiar!”

@ponzop pointed out: “He was on the episode which had Carl White’s first appearance. Carl pretended to be a plumber to get into Bianca’s home then this guy came a bit later as the actual plumber.” @aethelweardSaxon stated: “Real OG’s know him from somewhere else.”

As one of the fans mentioned, Glen appeared on EastEnders on a number of occasions between 1995 and 2013, including as a plumber.

It remains to be seen whether Terry Cant is here to stay, or if he and Sonia will leave the show and finally get to know each other.
