EastEnders star Kellie Bright shared a positive update about her son who has special educational needs (SEN).
The Linda Carter actress, 47, who is mum to Freddie, 11, Gene, 6, and Rudy, 1, discussed the long process of getting an
Educational Health Care (EHC) assessment for her son.
In a new update, the former Strictly Come Dancing star issued a wholesome update. She began: ‘I have been meaning to post a little update about our SEN/ECHP journey on here for a while.
‘And I am delighted to share with you – delighted is such a rubbish word for actually how amazing it is – as of February 6, 2024, my son has officially got his Educational Health Care plan.’
She continued: ‘The process once the assessment actually started happening was fairly swift, as suddenly I felt like people were on our side and I wasn’t having to fight as much as I had. [During a meeting], we were in a room together and I suddenly realised that everyone in there was on the side of my son, and that was huge
‘Posting this is weird because I know so many families out there are still trying to get theirs, are having the fight of their lives. I feel incredibly lucky that we have it, which isn’t right. I shouldn’t feel like I’m lucky, but I do. I know it isn’t a golden ticket, but it helps, it really helps.’
Kellie was met with outpouring support from fans with @murphys_sketches replying: ‘Happy for you ❤ keep sharing as well. It will bring hope to many! Xxxx.’
@olive.and.pip added: ‘Congratulations! This was so well put, thank you for sharing.’
As for Kellie’s alter-ego, viewers have seen Linda take a worrying downfall in recent months following the return of her rapist Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) and her murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) on Christmas Day.
Dean returned to the Square in October last year as Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Collins) business partner, much to the horror of Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
Since his return, she has faced daily torment, with Dean seemingly determined to make her life miserable.
His return led Linda to hit the bottle, and her drinking only got worse in the aftermath of Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) Christmas Day murder.
Unable to cope with her daughter’s alcoholism, Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) called on grandson Johnny for help, and he wasted no time in swapping Manchester for London in order to support his mum.
