Tommy Moon’s (Sonny Kendall) behaviour spirals further in EastEnders
next week when he targets his brothers Bert and Ernie (Elliott and Cody Briffett).
The seeds were planted for his troubling behaviour following mum Kat Slater’s
(Jessie Wallace) divorce from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). Tommy took the family breakdown badly and initially he wanted to keep living with him. In more recent weeks we’ve seen his behaviour worsen when Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy) caught him shoplifting from the Minute Mart, and later he began skipping school to spend more time with Phil. He also insulted Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) ahead of taking on a summer job at the Laundrette.
Earlier this week, he gave Phil false hope of a reconciliation with Kat and later, after being ordered home, he punched his mum in the stomach and told her she would regret pushing him to the floor in retaliation. As we know, this is set to be explored further in a harrowing child-to-parent abuse storyline later this summer. Next week, Kat is still reluctant to tell Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) the truth surrounding his behaviour but he takes note of her frustration.
Suggesting she takes a holiday whilst he looks after the lads, she knows that she can’t have Tommy left alone with him. Her point is proven when she’s forced to step in over his rough behaviour during a game of footy with the twins, who are significantly younger than him. Later, Kat opens up to Alfie about her fears and he agrees to help her. Hoping a tougher approach to the teen will prove to be just the ticket, he agrees to behave. Kat arrives home and Tommy seems to be a changed man, with his parents pleased with their progress. But as we know, this isn’t the case. How far will Tommy go?
