EastEnders star Kellie Bright has shared her hopes to work again with her on-screen husband Danny
Dyer.Speaking at tonight’s (September 11) National Television Awards (NTAs), Bright
said she’d be down for a Mick Carter (Dyer) return amid her character Linda’s struggles.
“I would love to do anything with Danny Dyer – work-related, just clarify that!” Bright said.
As some familiar faces have recently returned to the BBC soap, fans have been calling for a Mick cameo after that devastating Christmas twist in 2022.
“But I have no idea if he’s been asked to come back,” clarified Bright.
“Obviously, I would love to do anything with him, and I would love to see Mick and Linda together again,” she added.
“He’s a busy boy, he’s doing his thing, and I’m championing him from afar. I know that people would love it. We’ll see. I’d be surprised, but we’d see.”
In a festive episode in 2022, Mick disappeared into the sea following a life-and-death car chase with Janine Butcher, who had taken Linda (Bright) with her. Mick battled his fear of water to pull a pregnant Janine from the car, and he dived back in to save Linda, after he and his ex-wife had reunited just before.
Speaking about his open-ended exit from the soap, Dyer said he wasn’t enjoying his character’s more recent storylines.
“I didn’t quite know how [Mick’s final scenes were] gonna go down,” he told iFL TV in February 2023. “I felt my character had lost his way. I didn’t quite know who I was playing anymore. It was a really odd thing.”
