EastEnders has aired a huge character return in the show’s latest episode. Ian Beale has been
harbouring a big secret in recent scenes, and in the previous episode, Peter found out that his council
bid had been a lie and demanded to know the truth. Now in the latest episode, Peter urged Ian to
tell Cindy everything, confirming that Ian revealed the truth to his son last week. Cindy secretly looked at what was inside Ian’s packed bag and her suspicions were piqued further, so she decided to speak to Kathy. She asked her if she was covering for her son, concerned that Ian was lying to her and that he was having an affair. As Cindy explained that things hadn’t been the same between them recently, Kathy reminded her that this was because she kissed George. Ian denied this, and explained away why he hadn’t packed a suit for the course, leaving Cindy satisfied. But when she went to get something from Ian’s car, she found a mysterious address loaded into the satnav that was in the Cotswolds, rather than Manchester. As Ian left the Square, Cindy asked George to borrow his car, explaining to him and Elaine that Ian was having an affair and she needed to catch them in the act. Bobby wanted to know what was going on, and when Peter refused to tell him, he snuck into the back of the van and tagged along.
Cindy and George arrived at the house, and she got cold feet about potentially discovering Ian’s affair, while George was surprised about how upset she was – considering she had confessed her love to him only weeks ago.
