Aidan’s awake and there is big trouble on its way for John, judging by this week’s events in Emmerdale. All the pieces are lining up ready for a big, dramatic reveal of John’s sinister secret, and we are here for it!
There was all sorts going on this week as John found events closing in on him. But he wasn’t the only one bringing the drama.
Here’s what we thought of everything that happened in Emmerdale this week.

Aidan’s awake in Emmerdale!
And John’s in trouble! Things are not looking good for the most tormented serial killer the Dales have ever seen. This week everything started to fall apart for John as all his past – ahem – incidents, came back to haunt him.
First of all, John bumped into Aidan’s mum at the hospital. And she shared the very good news that something was happening with Aidan. He’d moved his fingers. And then he opened his eyes! It’s a miracle! Everyone was thrilled.
Except John. Obvs.
Aidan’s not talking yet in Emmerdale, which John seems very pleased about, but we know it’s only a matter of time. And frankly, with the top medical care patients receive at Hotten General, we reckon he’s bound to be up and about in no time at all. By the wedding, in fact…

Mack’s suspicious!
Meanwhile, murderer John was also feeling bad about the slurry leak, that he’d caused. He didn’t like everyone blaming Mack for the problem and he felt bad that Mack and Aaron had fallen out. He even felt bad that Moira was being mean to Mack. So he took some bolts out of the trailer, hoping to prove the leak wasn’t Mack’s fault.
And when the trailer fell on Moira, trapping her hand, John was – what luck! – right there. He rang Mack and asked him to come to the barn, and let him find Moira in trouble.
But while John’s plan seemed to work on the surface, Mack was clearly suspicious. He may have told John he’d been wrong about him, but his expression told another story. Mack’s not the sharpest tool in the box, but even he has twigged there’s more to John than meets the eye. Will Mack be the unlikely hero of this story?

They’re dredging the lake!
Aidan’s awake but that wasn’t even the worst news for John because the week ended with a huge revelation! Moira found out that the lake will need to be dredged as part of the treatment for the slurry leak.
That’s the lake where John dumped Nate’s body.
Uh-oh!

Belle went to Shetland
And brace yourself, because that wasn’t all either. Belle is determined to get to the bottom of Nate’s mysterious trip to Shetland. So determined, in fact, that she made the very long trip by car and ferry to Shetland and back in less than a day. And she also managed to squeeze in the time to have a chat with someone at the wind farm. He told her Nate had never turned up, and had messaged a week later to say he didn’t need the job after all.
Belle wanted to go to the police but John managed to talk her out of it. For now. But Belle’s not one to give up that easily. She might have agreed to leave her hunt for now, but we reckon she’s still looking.
Also this week, Tracy’s card – the card that was sent to Nate – was declined in the shop. Will that also raise an alert into Nate’s whereabouts?
So, Aidan’s awake, everyone knows Nate’s not in Shetland, the bank knows something’s up with Nate’s account AND they’re dredging the lake. Looks like time’s up, John!

Sarah wants a baby
This week, Sarah headed off to the fertility clinic.
“I’ve thought about this for a really long time,” she told her doctor. Erm, has she though? Remember when her bestie Chloe had baby Reuben and Sarah wasn’t remotely interested in the tot?
Anyhoo, Sarah’s fertility treatment is going to cost £30,000 and it might not even work. We’re not sure where Sarah’s going to find that cash, but it’s a moot point anyway, because it turns out the unluckiest woman in Emmerdale (and there’s some stiff competition, let’s face it) might have cervical cancer. Obviously, in the tradition of all soap cancer patients, she’s decided to keep this secret. Eye roll.
Debbie’s Australia flit
As it turns out the Dingles had something else to worry about because when Sarah rang her mum, it turned out Debbie had gone to live in Australia. And got married.
Everyone’s fuming about Debbie’s lack of communication and we’re not surprised. But we’re just disappointed that it seems Debbie Dingle won’t ever return to the Dales. She’s such a good character, with so much history with many other Emmerdale residents, that it seems a shame to send her off to the other side of the world forever.
