Sheriff Country Trailer Ignites Edgewater: Morena Baccarin Returns and Fire Country Cameos Teased

Sheriff Country‘s first official trailer proves that Morena Baccarin‘s Mickey Fox means business — and the Fire Country spinoff has already set up a cameo or two.

In Us Weekly’s exclusive first look, Mickey adjusts to her role as Edgewater County’s sheriff, saying, “I challenge you to imagine the community that we are and to work together to make that happen.”

Mickey’s connection to Edgewater makes her the obvious choice to look after its residents, but she seems to have a rough road ahead of her while solving a wide variety of crimes, dealing with her dad’s off-the-grid marijuana property and more surprises along the way.

“You are Edgewater’s finest,” Sharon (Diane Farr) tells her stepsister in the sneak peek.

Elsewhere in the video, CBS viewers got a glimpse at the other cast members ahead of the show’s highly anticipated debut.

The town of Edgewater was originally introduced when Fire Country premiered in 2022 with inmate Bode (Max Thieriot) returning home and volunteering for the California Conservation Camp Program during season 1 of the hit show. By season 2, a backdoor pilot set up the world of Sheriff Country, which is centered around Sharon’s (Farr) estranged sister Mickey (Baccarin) as she solves crimes in town.

Baccarin has already appeared in two episodes of Fire Country, with viewers learning more about her ex-con father and a mysterious incident involving her wayward daughter. The show’s backdoor pilot revealed that Sharon was at odds with Mickey after her stepsister busted Bode when he was a reckless teenager. After Bode got into more trouble as an adult, Sharon blamed Mickey for not supporting her nephew. Mickey, meanwhile, dropped a bombshell on Sharon when she opened up about her daughter’s struggles with addiction.

The episode brought Mickey and Sharon closer together as they worked to track down the person who killed Edgewater’s sheriff. Their reconciliation paved the way for more crossovers between Fire Country and Sheriff Country.

Before Sheriff Country’s premiere, Michele Weaver, who plays Cassidy, teased how the spinoff differs from its predecessor.

“It’s so new. But I do think there is a little bit of a different element, just because on Sheriff Country, we’re really following a story behind a female lead and the dynamics of what it’s like to be a strong female in a male dominated workplace,” Weaver, 35, exclusively told Us in May. “Also, I do think naturally when you’re at a sheriff’s house and not a firehouse, the problems that you’re dealing with are a little bit different.”

Weaver teased how the stakes compare, adding, “It’s not as catastrophic necessarily as much as people issues. This is what’s really exciting is to see the dynamic between the citizens of the city that we already know and love in a new way.”
