Beyond the key Sheriff Country characters already introduced in Fire Country season 2, episode 6, and season 3, episode 16, Mickey and Sharon’s closeness could also bring two obscure Fire Country forgotten characters to return to the CBS franchise. Still, what Sheriff Country needs to focus on the most is showing Bode and Skye together and truly building their bond.

Bode & Skye’s Storylines Mirroring One Another Makes Their Connection Necessary

While Bode and Skye never met one another onscreen in Fire Country, Mickey’s first appearance in season 2, episode 6 worked as a way to set up their bond at the same time the firefighting drama established Sharon and Mickey’s. This worked through Sharon’s retelling of feeling judged by Mickey, who criticized how Sharon had handled Bode as a child.

Bode and Skye’s struggles with addiction make their bond something that needs to be explored in Sheriff Country especially. Their problems can undoubtedly unite Sharon and Mickey even more, but even without taking them into consideration, Bode having been sober for so much longer than Skye can turn him into his cousin’s perfect mentor, someone who could truly help Skye.

Bode’s struggles with addiction and relapse in Fire Country can also let Skye feel supported in a way Mickey can’t, especially considering her position in the middle of the fight between Wes and Mickey. Their closeness in age, Bode being steps ahead of Skye, and knowing her family closely enough to understand her can bring out the best of them.

This could also work for Bode. Until now, Fire Country showed him as a son, a convict working towards redemption, and a promising but impulsive Cal Fire probie. However, being a mentor to Skye can show a different side to Bode, one that is nurturing and less conflictual than what Bode’s relationships with Vince and Sharon often were.

Why CBS Needs Fire Country & Sheriff Country To Be Strongly Linked

The only reason Sheriff Country was explored as a Fire Country spinoff this early into the firefighting drama’s run had everything to do with its incredible success on CBS. How much interest Fire Country garnered made the prospect of multiple spinoffs enticing, as the much-discussed potential Jared Padalecki-led Fire Country: Surfside shows, for the network and its viewers alike.
