Fans of Emmerdale have worried that Sarah Sugden may undergo an emergency hysterectomy during her upcoming cancer surgery. In scenes this month, doctors diagnosed Sarah with cervical cancer – a terrifying hitch in her IVF plans.
Still, Sarah took the news in her stride, and doesn’t seem to be too worried. Instead, she’s more focused on her IVF treatment, following a successful egg harvesting appointment last week.
With Charity and Cain both having learned about Sarah’s cancer, she’s due to undergo surgery as treatment. However, some fans are worried that all might not go to plan – and that she might have to undergo a hysterectomy.

Sarah to undergo hysterectomy in cancer surgery, fear Emmerdale fans
Writing on social media as last week’s scenes aired, fans shared their thoughts on what the outcome of Sarah’s treatment might be. And many are worried that it won’t be as simple as Sarah thinks.
“I wonder if there will be complications with the cancer surgery leading to an emergency hysterectomy,” wrote one fan on Reddit.
“Yes, I think the surgery will definitely result in complications + hysterectomy. And then I guess we’ll see how far Sarah is prepared to go in her pursuit of having a baby, and how far Charity will go to support her,” agreed another.
“I reckon Sarah isn’t going to make it or she has had to have a hysterectomy,” said a third on Instagram.

As the week begins, Cain is horrified to learn about Sarah’s IVF from Jacob. When he reacts by threatening Jacob, a downcast Sarah reveals that she’s doubting herself and her pregnancy plan.
As Sarah’s surgery approaches, she’s full of fear for her mortality. Jacob boosts her mood by offering to be her sperm donor, but is left heartbroken by Charity‘s reaction to the news.
And, as she heads into her operation, Charity’s left regretting how she left things with her daughter. Later, Cain does his best to comfort Charity after her poorly-timed argument with Sarah. However, the mood turns to sheer panic when the surgeon reveals that things haven’t gone to plan.
