Emmerdale ‘gone too far’ as fans ‘work out’ John Sugden’s next victim – and it’s a child

Emmerdale seems to have dropped a hint about who John Sugden will target next in the village.

John (played by Oliver Farnworth) made his first appearance last year, arriving in the Dales as the alleged long-lost son of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby). He quickly left a mark on the locals.

The enigmatic doctor has since found his place in the village, getting acquainted with his distant family members – including sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins). He also got engaged to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

However, little is known about John’s past, other than his apparent military service a few years back. This week, Emmerdale unveiled a significant twist about John, allowing viewers to finally understand what he’s been up to over the past year.

In Thursday’s episode (April 10), the soap aired several flashbacks – one of which confirmed that he was behind the death of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), reports Leicestershire Live.

But there’s more – the soap also revealed that John was the mastermind behind setting up Ella Forster (Paula Lane) and the person who drugged his future mother-in-law Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) last month.

In another plot twist, John poisoned Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant), who has a severe nut allergy, just so he could save him and be hailed a hero by the villagers.

However, fans now suspect the soap has hinted at John’s next victim – and it doesn’t look good for Victoria.

Emmerdale enthusiasts have taken to social media to express their unease after John’s recent offer to babysit Victoria’s son, Harry, sparking speculation that the child might be his next target.

One worried fan posted on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page: “Really hope John isn’t going to do something to Victoria’s child. Offering to babysit is a bit of a giveaway…” This sentiment was echoed by others, with a second viewer commenting: “I noticed that as well.”

Another fan added their voice to the growing concern: “Probably but if he does that would be taking it way too far!” Meanwhile, a fourth person expressed their anticipation for the plot’s resolution: “How vile, can’t wait until he’s found out!”
