Fans are speculating two village residents are hiding, or maybe unaware of,
their involvement in a deadly car crash that resulted in the death of a teenager
on New Year’s Day’s episode of the ITV soap. Heath Hope died after a car
crash on the way to a party in Hotten, with his twin sister Cathy Hope and pal Angelica King in the car.
Having been banned from going to a party, Cathy decided to steal Wendy’s car and head out into the back roads of the Dales to the New Year’s Eve party, with her twin brother Heath and friend Angelica in tow. However, there were disastrous consequences for the family when the car ended up veering off the road in a shocking collision, leaving Cathy and Angelica with terrible cuts and bruises to their faces.
Heath, though, was dealt a much worse fate and in sad scenes, Wendy tried to perform CPR on him with no avail. Terrified, Bob realised what was happening – and that he had lost his son for good. The crash did not actually air so more is to be revealed about the crash, while prior to it we did see Cathy swerving an oncoming car.
Now, scenes involving two other characters have left many viewers convinced two residents not shown onscreen in the death scenes may have been linked to the crash. We saw Mackenzie Boyd and Aaron Dingle teaming up in the episode, and they were shown driving around the time of the crash.
There was also mention from one of them about a close call to do with another car, and now fans think the pair might have been the one that Cathy swerved from. If not, some fans are wondering if their car might have been swerved later on, leading to the crash.
Taking to X with their suspicions, one viewer posted: “Cathy swerved to avoid an oncoming car – she was on the wrong side of the road – so I presume that’s when she went off the roadside and flipped. Wonder if the other car was the one Aaron was driving? With Mackenzie as his passenger.”

Another agreed: “Yes, because either Aaron or Mackenzie said about a car being ‘a close call’ or “near miss” didn’t they? Hubby reckons that’s why she swerved off the road.” Another fan wrote: “Possibly Aaron & Mack involved somehow too.”
The comments kept on coming too with a fourth reading: “Can’t help but feel, as we didn’t actually see the crash happen, that maybe Aaron & Mack were involved too.” Another wrote: “Why do I think Mack or Aaron might have inadvertently been involved in the Accident or even Nate as he was on the road at the time,” as a further comment read: “There’s more of this story to come, were Mac and Aaron involved somehow?”
