EastEnders fans have ‘finally put a face’ to a character they’ve been waiting over three decades to see on the show.
It’s set to be an emotional week on the BBC soap as Natalie Cassidy’s Sonia Fowler says goodbye to Albert Square after her exit was confirmed at the beginning of the year.

While she previously departed in 2007 and returned in 2014, fans are unsure of when or if the trumpet player will reappear in Walford.
Recent weeks have seen Sonia at odds with her sister Bianca Jackson over the latter’s decision to take part in a podcast about her evil ex Reiss Colwell.
In scenes that aired on Monday (April 14), Mo Slater and Kim Fox were at odds with Sonia after they brought a pack of true-crime fans to her door.

Sonia was quick to blame Bianca to her daughter Bex, saying that none of this would have happened if she listened to her and avoided talking about her personal life.
Unaware that a mysterious man was fixated on her home, Bianca was later kicked out of the house by Sonia as a result of what of she did.

Bex eventually encouraged Sonia to understand where Bianca is coming to, forgiving her sister in time to rescue her after she had a panic attack in the Square Gardens whilst being accosted by ‘fans’.
Finally mending their bridges, Sonia and Bianca headed to Harry’s Barn for a drink, only for Bianca to see the mystery man from earlier watching them.
After Bianca discovered the man’s identity following an intense chase, where she warned him to stay away, the man revealed himself to Sonia at the end of the episode.

It turned out that it was in fact Terry Cant, Sonia’s real father, who Rocky Cotton previously pretended to be when he first joined the show in 2021.
EastEnders fans flocked to the show’s Reddit page to have their say on a character who fans have been waiting over 30 years to see in the flesh.
@TheCattorney said: “Interesting seeing Terry Cant at last, I’ve been waiting years to see a face put onto the name. I was able to predict that he was the ‘mystery arrival’ last week too!” @eesort added: “Finally, we meet him.”

Whether Sonia has finally met her dad remains to be seen, but maybe this is the happy ending the veteran character deserves.
