Ross Kemp addresses EastEnders return for Grant Mitchell and we’re so ready

The 57-year-old TV personality first appeared in Walford as hardman Grant

from 1990 to 1999. He returned for a year in 2005 before leaving again in 2006,

before making one more comeback in 2016. Addressing the ongoing rumours

during Friday’s This Morning, presenter Alison Hammond asked the star: ‘Now I can’t let you go until we ask you about the EastEnders rumours. What is going on, are you going back for the 40th anniversary. Tell us what’s going on.’

He later added: ‘I am very proud of the show celebrating 40 years and I wouldn’t have had a career, good or bad without it.

‘I absolutely love it and I still support it and I would if I had come from Coronation Street or Emmerdale, well I was in Emmerdale Farm briefly before but yeah, I am proud the show is celebrating the 40 years and I will continue to support it as long as I can.’

Having last been seen in Walford in 2016, during the storyline that saw Peggy Mitchell tragically die, viewers are certainly ready for a Grant Mitchell return.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw revealed last year that he would love to bring back Grant, for ‘more brotherly drama with Phil’, but would Ross be up for a return?

‘Grant Mitchell, for more brotherly drama with Phil!’, he said during a chat with TV Times.

Prior to Chris’ comments, Ross gave the classic answer of ‘never say never’ when asked the question on The One Show.

‘I loved the part, I did it for 10 years,’ he said.

‘I must have liked it because I stayed there for 10 years. But, you know, look, it was great fun, I loved the cast, it was a great job. [I’m] doing lots of different things right now, but never say never!’
