Emmerdale viewers think they have worked out who is lined up as the next girlfriend for Billy. And it seems many are already fans of the romance.

Over the last few months Billy has remained unaware that Dawn was playing away with Joe, while they all live under one roof. But she made the decision to finally end their marriage, leaving Billy heartbroken.

But fans think he deserves better. And they also think Belle Dingle deserves better too. Because of this, many seem to think they’re on track to be a huge village romance.

Billy and Dawn have split up

Last night (April 22) Billy was convinced that Dawn had an affair with Ross. While that wasn’t the case, he wasn’t far off the mark. And with many fans worried we’re headed for a ‘Who killed Joe’ storyline, Billy would have plenty of reason to want rid.

But on the other hand, fans want him to experience happiness. And they want the same for Belle. She hasn’t had an easy time lately, having spent a lengthy time in an abusive marriage to Tom.

Now that Tom is out of the picture and behind bars, Belle is finally able to live her life the way she wants. And while romance may not be on her mind right now, viewers believe she and Billy would make an adorable couple. Especially after everything both have been through.

Fans want Belle to be Billy’s next girlfriend in Emmerdale

One fan wrote: “Come on, let’s find a suitable girl for Billy. Dawn is so dumb to leave the loyal father of her children. I think Belle would be nice with him.”

Another commented: “I think Belle and Billy!”

A third added: “Belle would be lovely for Billy.”

“Belle deserves to be happy, so I would like to see her and Billy together” another penned.

However, another user pointed out that the characters who deserve happiness aren’t always the ones who get it.

They wrote: “Belle needs a good man and Billy needs a good woman. But Emmerdale don’t always do happy ever after’s unfortunately.

Whether or not Billy will find a girlfriend in Belle, it seems that fans are already on their side.

At this moment though, his thoughts are still very much on the fresh heartbreak of losing Dawn. So, perhaps it’s too soon for him to think about a new girlfriend. But if he finds out that Dawn is seeing Joe… then he may want to quickly move on.
