EastEnders legend's exit 'sealed' as secret is finally exposed

EastEnders is gearing up for a week of high drama as Cindy Beale, portrayed by Michelle Collins, makes a sensational return to the Square on Monday (5th May), revealing Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) as her violent assailant.

Long-time viewers of the BBC soap will recall that Cindy bid farewell to Walford in February after surviving the Queen Vic explosion, leaving behind hints of a deadly revenge plot.

On the fateful night of the pub disaster, which resulted in the deaths of Martin Fowler (James Bye) and Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman), Cindy uncovered that Kathy was the unknown attacker who assaulted her on Christmas Day and left her to die.

In a twist of fate, Kathy ended up saving Cindy’s life when she was trapped in the pub mere hours after this revelation. Now, Cindy is set to make a dramatic return to the Square, ready to unveil Kathy’s secret.

EastEnders fans ‘work out’ Shireen baby twist as Nicola Mitchell makes drastic decision

Next week kicks off with an engagement party for Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law), who are also expecting their second child together, reports Plymouth Live.

As the Beales and Knights gather at Harry’s Barn to celebrate, Lauren retreats to the office following a distasteful comment from Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).

Kathy steps in to comfort Lauren, persuading her to rejoin the festivities. However, the mood takes another dip when Cindy makes her unexpected entrance.

Peter tries to calm the situation, but Lauren walks out, leaving him with a stark choice – it’s either her or his mother Cindy.

Cindy finds herself ostracised by her family, and in spite of this, she reveals all about Kathy hitting her with a shovel. Later, she goes to No. 29A to confront Lauren, but is taken aback when she discovers Lauren in the throes of labour.

With the ambulance delayed, Cindy takes control of the situation and rushes Lauren to the hospital, leaving Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) to break the news to Peter.

Meanwhile, Kathy seeks comfort with her new flame Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman), only for their moment to be interrupted by his girlfriend, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).

Kathy quickly concocts an excuse, and fortunately, Jean is too distracted worrying about dementia patient Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) to notice anything amiss between them.

Later on, Harvey invites Kathy on a caravan holiday, but their plans hit a snag when Jean stumbles upon the brochure and the Slaters mistakenly believe the holiday is intended for them.

Will Kathy be able to wriggle out of the fallout from Cindy’s revelation? Or are her days in the Square coming to an end?
