EastEnders fans are certain they’ve figured out why Vicki Fowler and her new beau Ross Marshall are in dire need of cash.
In the latest instalment aired on Tuesday (April 1), available on BBC iPlayer, the prominent BBC series disclosed the true reason behind Vicki’s return to Walford after a two-decade absence.
Vicki, last seen heading to Australia with Spencer Moon (portrayed by Chris Parker) in 2004, resurfaced for her uncle Martin Fowler’s memorial, accompanied by her new family.
The sudden replacement of Spencer with her fresh partner Ross (played by Alex Walkinshaw) and his child Joel (depicted by Max Murray) promptly triggered speculation about Spencer’s fate.
Initially blaming Spencer for infidelity, Vicki eventually admitted to being the one who ruined their partnership by engaging in an affair with his mate Ross, reports Plymouth Live.
The pair were seen in a fraught discussion where Ross encouraged Vicki to ask Sharon for financial help, leaving viewers to ponder about the nature of their monetary troubles and any potential connections to Spencer.
Fans took their theories online, with one suggesting: “Maybe someone is after them or they owe someone money? I wonder if it has some link to Spencer!” While another simply said: “They’re obvs after money! ! ! Defo owe someone.”
A viewer praised the latest episode, tweeting: “A great episode of #EastEnders tonight. A brilliant opening episode for Vicki Fowler with plenty of secrets festering already? That Duff Duff — What do Ross and Vicki need money for?”.
Upcoming EastEnders spoilers have revealed that next week, Ross goes to great lengths to persuade Vicki to remain in Walford.
As the intrigue over their financial situation deepens, Sharon finds herself confronting Vicki, leading to escalating tensions between the siblings.
Meanwhile, Ross receives a crucial phone call — all while unaware that Vicki has been making plans of her own, arranging flights for their return trip across the globe.
Subsequently, a phone call from her distressed mother Michelle Fowler reaches Vicki, indicating that Ross’s scheming may be having the intended effect – but it leaves everyone questioning why Ross is so desperate for Vicki to stay in Walford.
