Emmerdale viewers were treated to more drama on Wednesday night, with Manpreet Sharma’s blackmail storyline taking centre stage. Recently, Manpreet revealed to Ella Forster that she was being blackmailed after posting personal photos online and joining a subscription website.
After sharing her predicament, Ella advised her to delete her account. However, moments after deactivating, the blackmailer messaged again, stating: “Deleting your profile won’t make a difference” and sent screenshots of her account, warning: “One word to the police and everyone will know your secret.”
In Wednesday’s episode, available now on ITV X, Manpreet’s anxiety over the blackmailer escalated during a lunch with Ella in the village, when she received a text from her stalker saying they were watching her.
Viewers have grown suspicious of Ella due to her criminal past, but others have noted that all texts were sent while Ella was with Manpreet, seemingly excluding her as the blackmailer.
Discussing the gripping storyline on This Morning, soap expert Sharon Marshall hinted: “So I can confirm it is somebody in the village… a few little twist and turns coming up on that one!”
Social media is awash with theories about the identity of the mystery blackmailer, with fans speculating that Wendy Posner, Manpreet’s former colleague who left the village earlier this year amid her own blackmail scandal, could be responsible.

The speculation heated up on social media with comments like: “Tracey who needs money”, followed by support from others adding: “I think Tracey too. Wendy’s left now and I doubt she would do that it’s someone desperate for cash” and another fan backing that prediction stated: “Tracy. She knows about that type of work and she needs the cash.”
The theories come amid hints that Paula Lane’s character, troubled Ella, might be exiting the show soon. A recent update on the actress’ Spotlight page indicates that she will wrap up filming for the soap in February 2025.
