Coronation Street viewers are convinced they’ve figured out Carl Webster’s real plan.
Earlier this month, Kevin and Debbie Webster were reunited with their estranged younger half-brother Carl Webster.
Jonathan Howard, who takes on the role of Carl, made quite the entrance after a vehicular mishap involving Kevin’s wife, Abi Webster.
The encounter was all sparks and confusion as Abi, unaware that he was Kevin’s brother, and Carl, oblivious to her being his sister-in-law, clashed before engaging in flirty exchanges.
As the story unfolded, viewers witnessed Abi and Carl realise their connection in awkward scenes with the duo continuing to flirt ever since.
On Monday’s episode, in heartbreaking scenes, Carl accompanied sister Debbie to her hospital appointment, where the neurologist confirmed that she has vascular dementia but as long as she leads a healthy lifestyle she can carry on as normal for the time being.
A shocked Debbie made it clear to Carl that she wanted to keep her diagnosis to herself for now and she is not ready to tell the family.
Later, Carl called at No.13 where Abi sensed that something was bothering him. Carl made out he was worried about Kevin’s cancer and wished they had spent more time together.
This prompted Abi to assure Carl that he’s a decent bloke and despite their rocky start, she is pleased that he is here. Carl then attempted to kiss Abi who turned him down.
Meanwhile, Debbie decided to break up with oblivious partner Ronnie Bailey to protect him from having to become her carer and later broke down to Carl.
Taking to social media, viewers were quick to share their predictions and theories, speculating about Carl’s real plan for Debbie.
One person said: “So you can see how this will pan out. Debbie will keep the diagnosis to herself and ask Carl to be power of attorney. Carl will fleece her because he has money troubles” to which another replied: “Spot on” while a different viewer added: “I think you have it 100%.”
Elsewhere, another commented: “Do we think Carl will do something sinister with Debbie’s will etc” to which a different account replied: “Think so as he’s in need of money”, another put: “Yes as he needs the money so I think he’ll do anything to get it” while a different account added: “Think he wants money.”
