Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) dog Piper was deliberately hit by
a car that was being driven by Tom King (James Chase) in tonight’s Emmerdale.
Ever since Belle returned home from Scotland, Tom has tried to manipulate her
into reuniting. After months of physical and mental abuse, things changed for Belle once more when she went to a Welsh cottage with Tom. Because she was put in danger time and time again, Belle took action by running from the cottage with Piper in her arms and getting a bus back home. To try and entice her back into their marriage, Tom surprised Belle with a new mini cooper. When Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) told Belle about the gift, she immediately said she wasn’t able to accept it.
In Dale Head, Belle told Tom that she doesn’t want to talk to him anymore, and wants to heal and move forward. To her surprise, Tom accepted this and left. While she was away in Scotland, Tom slipped into Dale Head and installed a camera in every single room – including the bathroom. In tonight’s episode, Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) visited Belle and suggested she comes along to Sam’s (James Hooton) birthday gathering at the pub. Belle was a little reluctant, but eventually decided to spend time with her family, leaving Piper at the Dingle home.
When Belle arrived, she spotted Tom at the bar. He revealed he was there to buy Sam a drink, but then turned his attention to them having a chat. Sitting down, Tom tried to tell Belle she could have the new car by paying for it instalments, rather than accepting it as a gift. Belle said no, and then told Tom she would prefer it if he wasn’t in the pub. Tom grabbed her wrist and grew annoyed at her trying to take control. Feeling confident, Belle told Tom to leave once more, but her voice was loud enough for her family to hear. Annoyed and embarrassed, Tom left. Outside, after Tom smashed the GPS tracker that was sitting on the mini, he got in and wait for a drive.
Approaching the Dingle home, Tom spotted Piper, who had escaped and was sniffing around some feathers. A horrible idea forming, we then saw Tom rev the car and drive forward. Prior to the episode ending, Tom was back in the village waiting for Belle to leave the pub. Just as she did, he rushed outside with Piper wrapped in a blanket. He explained to a perplexed Belle that Piper had been hit by a car and was badly injured. Rushing into the vets, Tom told Belle that he’ll do his best to try and save her. But what will the outcome be? Will Tom kill Piper the dog?
