This article contains spoilers for tonight’s episodes of EastEnders, which air on BBC Two from 7pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer.

Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) has left Albert Square – but not before saying goodbye to someone first.

The character had quite a dramatic exit, having scammed the Panesar clan out of thousands and fleeing to Spain.

She thought she’d got away with the devious act when she framed accountant Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig), but little did she realise, the family were onto her.

Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) installed spyware onto her laptop, but due to a delay, she was able to transfer a final £25k into her account before he and brother Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) realised.

On Bridge Street, Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal) tried to block her from boarding the taxi with cousin Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison). Bernie pleaded with her to let her go so that she could start afresh in the wake of brother Keanu’s (Danny Walters) murder.

Concerned that the death could stir up more trouble for her, Suki stepped to one side, with Bernie and Felix driving off into the distance.

But in the moments prior to her exit, Bernie visited the Walford allotments and laid flowers beside a tree, asking Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) to do the same in her absence.

But whose memorial was she visiting?

Who was Belle in EastEnders?

Belle was the daughter of Bernie and her school mate Callum Edwards (Shaun Aylward).

In 2017, the baby was conceived following a brief fling. Callum offered his commitment to his new family, suggesting marriage.

Bernie was elated, but unfortunately the pregnancy didn’t go to plan.

Just 18 weeks in, she went into labour at home and the child was stillborn. Bernie was heartbroken to see that her tiny daughter wasn’t moving.

In the aftermath, mum Karen (Lorraine Stanley) arranged for a cremation and a memorial service was held at the allotment.

Brothers Keanu and Keegan (Zack Morris) gathered to plant a tree in her honour, and in true Albert Square fashion, things became heated. Keegan lashed out at Callum, with Bernie pleading with them to stop.

It was then that the teens announced they’d chosen a name – Belle.
