Coronation Street star Farrel Hegarty has revealed that there are ‘skeletons in the closet’ that are set to come spilling out as the truth about Lou and Mick Michaelis’ relationship, and their link to Kit Green, is exposed.
Lou was the first to arrive on the cobbles in February and she was quickly followed to Weatherfield by her husband Mick, played by Joe Layton, as the street’s new ‘nightmare neighbours’ who won’t let anyone stand in their way.
Mick and Lou moved into Mawdsley Street at the back of Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown’s house, which is the first time ever Corrie have extended the serial drama across the ginnel in a history-making move for the popular show.
But Corrie fans were also told at the time that Mick and Lou have a connection to Kit, who made his first appearance on the Street last May after Bernie Winter went on a mission to find her long-lost son, Zodiac.
When she found Kit, played by Jacob Roberts, as she posed as a cleaner before rifling through his drawers, he lied and said he wasn’t adopted but it was later confirmed that Bernie had found her long-lost son.
He soon made things difficult for Bernie, even attempting to turn her children Paul Foreman and Gemma Winter against her, before Paul’s tragic death seemingly brought them together and while he may now not be causing problems for his own family, he’s not too worried about causing problems for others.
But Kit’s past has been left unexplored, or it was until now as a special flashback episode will see three young actors take on the roles of Kit, Mick and Lou as we flick between their teenage years, the secrets that bind them together and their life as it is today.

It comes as Corrie fans have become increasingly worried about Lou, after witnessing Mick’s threatening and sinister behaviour towards others. Asked about their relationship, Farrel told the Manchester Evening News and other press: “Lou is extremely loyal, and probably at times she definitely shouldn’t be, but I think Mick is all she’s ever known.
“With that, she’s definitely got that ‘stand by your man’ attitude, where she turns a blind eye to a lot of things. She’s so besotted with him and loyal to him that I think she can’t see right from wrong a lot. With that relationship, it gets her in hot water as well.”
There will also be the moment Kit comes face-to-face with Lou for the first time since her and Mick’s move to the cobbles.” Her finding out happens off-screen so the first time you see them together, there’s definitely a sense of shock,” Farrel revealed.
“For her, it’s a blast from the past. They’ve not seen each other for a while and it’s all those emotions coming up. And I think what we’ll discover is that it will bring up a lot of things she’d rather forget and also things that she’d rather keep hidden as well.”
Farrel went on to teas what fans can expect from the special flashback episode which will see the true Lou, Mick and Kit unravel. “It’s been so much fun to work on and I think you can expect a lot,” she told us.
“There’s a lot happening. We uncover exactly how Mick, Lou and Kit know each other and there’s definitely a few skeletons in the closet that are going to come out.

“And also why the characters are the way they are. It’s rare we get to look back what makes someone the person they are today, what they’ve been through and what’s happened in the past and all that’s going to come out which is going to be exciting to watch.”
Farrel was also asked about the casting of the three young stars set to play the younger version of their characters, to which she revealed: “It was odd because at one point there was the three of us and the three of them…
She added: “I obviously read the scripts so I know what happens but I didn’t get to see any of it so I’m going to be watching that at the same time as everyone else. But the casting was really good. I took it as a compliment!”
But it seems this won’t be the end of what’s to come for the Michaelis’. Asked if it’s just the beginning of the devastation Mick and Lou could cause, Farrel laughed: “I know it’s the beginning!”
She went on to tease: “There’s definitely more to come for these two, I’m afraid to say. There’s a lot happening. It’s all about to come to head, it’s all about to implode and I think we’re going to see a lot of Lou finding it hard to fight to keep afloat and pick up a lot of pieces and torn between head and heart a lot as well.”
