Charlotte Jordan opened up about how she has bid farewell to Weatherfield in a recent interview on ITV’s This Morning. The soap star, who has played Daisy Midgeley on Coronation Street for five years, spoke to hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about her “emotional” goodbye.
Fans were gutted to learn that Charlotte would be leaving the ITV soap to explore new opportunities. Her character’s storyline has took shape in turbulent fashion as Daisy lost her unborn baby in the dramatic car accident last month.
The character has since been betrayed by her mum, Christina, as they tried to scam Jenny Bradley out of money for the Rovers Return. Daisy has burned all her bridges in Weatherfield after a traumatic period, which is the driving force for her character’s move to the other side of the world.
When asked by Ben about what it was like to say goodbye, Charlotte said: “It was a lot more emotional than I thought it would be. I told them a year ago, so I’ve had a long time to come to terms with it and be ready for it.
She added: “But I cried a lot on my last day which I don’t tend to do very often, but it was like on and off sobbing for about four hours.”
Despite her emotional goodbye, Charlotte is keen to start a new chapter in her life. She is grateful for the way show bosses have managed her exit and explained she is looking forward to exploring new roles in the immediate future now her stint on Corrie is over.

She said: “I do feel excited, it’s a fresh start. I feel like I’ve done a lot of soap things, like I think I’ve done the checklist and they’ve been really good to me and it feels like a new beginning.”

Charlotte shared: “I am joining The Archers which is really fun. I start very soon, I can’t say much about it but the character will ruffle some feathers that’s what I can say.”
When asked if the door has been left open for Daisy Midgeley to reappear on the Cobbles, she said: “They’ve been really good to me. When I said it was my time to go, I was fully prepared for them to run me over. You have to accept it!” She added: “So I was very very grateful that they have left the door open and if I would like to go back I can.”

Daisy’s emotional goodbye comes as a raft of stars are also bidding farewell to the soap. This year, Colson Smith (Craig Tinker) and Eileen Grimshaw, portrayed by Sue Cleaver will also depart from their roles.
In recent episodes, Julie Carp returned to Weatherfield after almost 10 years. Katy Cavanagh reprised her role just in time to say farewell to her sister, Eileen.
However, Coronation Street spoilers have confirmed that Julie’s time will soon come to an end. She returned to Weatherfield with terminal cancer, and her family have done everything they could to make more memories. Emotional scenes are set to take place on the soap next week, leaving Eileen heartbroken.
