Coronation Street fans were delight as they named their new ‘favourite duo’ but some don’t think that the new friendship will remain just that.
It’s been a tricky time for Betsy Swain in Weatherfield as she witnessed her boyfriend, Mason Radcliffe, bleeding to death after being stabbed by his own brothers at the star of the year before being gripped by fear around Rob Donovan being on the loose.
The latter happened the most recently as at the end of March, the convicted murderer returned to Weatherfield to have one last showdown with his sister Carla Connor.
It came weeks after Rob went on the run after he escaped the hospital having been a kidney donor for his older sibling, only with the thought of using his time in hospital to escape.
He returned to the Street and called on former fiancée Tracy Barlow for help. She reluctantly agreed but soon came to regret the decision as a sick Rob refused any medical help and threatening her with a gun, demanded Tracy get Carla to No.1 Coronation Street where he held them hostage.
Seemingly wanting this to be then end, Rob, still brandishing the gun, revealed to the Underworld factory boss that his plan was to make her watch him die so that the memories would haunt her forever.
But distracting him, Tracy seized her chance to escape, raising the alarm with Lisa on the way out, who swapped places with the florist. Lisa did what Rob said at first but when he placed the gun down, she took her chances and took the weapon into her own hands.
Rob wasn’t taking anything lying down and made a play for the gun, resulting in a grapple between him and Lisa when the trigger was pulled and a gun shot rang out. While Rob was then quickly arrested, Lisa’s horror continued as she found daughter Betsy injured in the ginnel having been hit in the upper arm by the rogue bullet and was told later in hospital the injury could be life-changing.
Things got worse when Lisa admitted to the teen that it was her who shot her, not Rob, as he finger was on the trigger at the time of their tussle for the gun. Betsy was heartbroken and accused her mum of putting Carla before her, and almost leaving her without a mum having lost her other mum, Becky, in the line of duty.

But during Monday night’s (March 31) Corrie, as Betsy was still giving her mum the cold shoulder, the young woman got some well-meaning advice from Nina Lucas.
Still upset, Betsy shared that Lisa should have focused on running “a million miles in the other direction” when she learned that Rob was holding Carla at gunpoint, instead of running straight into the line of fire and risking her own life.
But in an emotional moment, Nina argued: “It doesn’t sound to me like it was much of a choice. I imagine it was just pure instinct and love. If it had been you, she would have done exactly the same thing. Because that’s what you do when you love someone – there’s no stopping and thinking. If they’re in danger, you just do everything in your power to protect them.”
She adds: “Isn’t it an amazing thing for your mum to have found a love like the one she has with Carla?” And her words seemingly worked as later, Betsy apologised to Carla for being a ‘brat’ and told her mum that she knew she didn’t mean for what happened to have.

And it was Nina and Betsy who Corrie fans were loving they were loving the scenes between. @SamLooksWrecked said: “Love that Nina is becoming a proper friend to Betsy & made her realise how much Lisa loves Carla.
