Coronation Street denies rumours that one of their most popular stars has quit

Coronation Street has cleared up rumours Lucy Fallon has quit the show.

Actress Lucy has played Bethany Platt on and off since 2015. The character departed Weatherfield in February of this year to return to London.

This storyline aired to tie in with Lucy’s maternity leave, as she’s now mum to her second child – a little girl called Nancy.

As Lucy only left the ITV soap for maternity leave, it was always suggested Bethany would eventually return to the cobbles.

However, after it was revealed Lucy has signed with the talent agency Off Limits, it left fans fearing she has quit altogether.

A Coronation Street spokesperson has since confirmed to Metro that ‘Lucy will be returning to filming in the summer after maternity leave, as always planned’, and that ‘Bethany will be back on screen in October’.

After living in London, Bethany returned to Coronation Street last year, and took no time at all in reconnecting with former flame Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).

Over the next twelve months, she caused rumblings among the local community as she tried to get her journalism career off the ground, and was later horrified to learn that abuser Nathan Curtis had been released from prison.

Her life was changed completely last autumn when she underwent plastic surgery in Turkey, but was left needing a permanent stoma bag after the procedure went wrong.

Since then, things have been tense between her and Daniel, especially with former fiancé Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) still on the scene.

On Christmas Day, Daniel proposed to Bethany, which she gladly accepted, unaware that Daisy had just found out she was pregnant.

With Daisy and Daniel having had a one night stand a few weeks earlier, there was every possibility that the baby was Daniel’s.

Recently, things once again grew tense between Daniel and Bethany when she accepted a new job in London, and asked him to consider a trial move.

After a discussion with Daisy, he agreed, and smug Bethany wasted no time in celebrating at the Rovers.

However, as she revealed that she and Daniel had set a wedding date, Daisy blew their relationship apart by revealing that Daniel could be the father of her baby.
