Emmerdale fans have ‘rumbled’ the mystery surrounding Mackenzie Boyd’s flashforward – but it’s nothing to do with John Sugden.

At New Year, the ITV soap aired several glimpses into the future, set in 2025. These included a scene of Caleb Miligan (William Ash) fighting for his life in hospital and an eerie clip of someone trapped under an icy lake.

There was also another flashforward featuring a scared fan favourite Mack (Lawrence Robb) running in the woods.

Three of the flashforward scenes have already aired – including Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson) trapped under the ice and John Sugden’s (Oliver Farnworth) pushing Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) body bag into the lake.

And now, fans are certain the soap is about to air Mack’s flashforward as they ‘work out’ who he is running from – and it’s not John Sugden.

Over on the soap this week, Mack started to dig into John’s past, adamant that he was hiding something about his past. It turns out Mack’s instincts are correct, as fans will know John is responsible for the death of Nate.

In Wednesday’s episode (April 23) Mack encountered John’s old arm friend Connor which led to him finding out that John had been lying to everyone about his past, and that his ex-lover Aidan Moore isn’t actually dead.

Mack soon confronted John and insisted he wouldn’t let him marry Aaron (Danny Miller), leaving John fuming.

And now, while some believe Mack is running away from John in the flashforward, others reckon it has nothing to do with him. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person penned: “So is Mack running from John in the flashforward?”

A second fan chimed in: “Putting it out there but I actually don’t think it’s to do with John. Perhaps Mack sees Nate’s body in the lake and that’s why he’s running?”

A third also wrote: “Same here, the whole John and Mack feud could be a red herring.” Another shared: “Yeah I doubt Mackenzie would be running scared from John he doesn’t seem scared of him.”
