‘It’s definitely a bit of a bombshell.’
‘The holiday episodes are a little bit lighter,
and we wanted to play a little more comedy after the weight of this [fifth] season,
’ Season 5 showrunner, co-executive producer and co-screenwriter Patrick Sean Smith said in October, hinting that the final Season 5 Christmas specials of Virgin River would bring us some much-needed holiday cheer.
The episodes were indeed comforting, especially when compared to the mayhem that had previously taken place in the seemingly quiet and peaceful Northern California town.
However, in the case of the ‘lighter’ episodes, Virgin River’s storyline definitely kept the pulse of many viewers racing. Amidst all the holiday hustle and bustle and family gatherings, Mel and Jack finally managed to find the former’s biological father. The catch is that once Mel got to see him, the season ended on a cliffhanger that left viewers reeling. Brace yourselves, dear fans, because according to the showrunner himself, we’re in for more disturbing drama in Season 6.
The Identity of Mel’s Biological Father Is Finally Revealed
We’ve all wondered for a long time who was the link between Mel and Virgin River. Most suspicions fell on Doc, of course.
And now the identity of the father is finally revealed, and it is a new character named Everett (John Allen Nelson). The meeting did not go the easiest way, as the found father is not only afraid to meet with her, but is also hiding the terrible truth that he is forced to tell his daughter.
New Season, New Challenges
In other words, in the sixth season, Mel will not be living a quiet life once again, as she will have to deal with the complexities of Everett’s withheld secrets. And this will not only complicate their relationship, but also seems to be the driving force behind the new drama looming over Mel and Jack.
Beyond the revelation itself, the arrival of a new father figure in Mel’s life will create new challenges, especially in her relationship with Doc. Perhaps we should expect some paternal jealousy from the Virgin River veteran when he realizes that Everett isn’t the man he’s trying to be?
What Could Mel’s Father Be Hiding?
Looks like we should start worrying about Mel, folks, because what Everett is about to tell her could be ‘a bombshell.’
How horrible could the truth be? Could the plot take an unexpected turn and Everett be dying, shocking Mel, who has just found a member of her family? Or is Mel’s mother not her biological parent either? Or maybe Everett is connected to criminal activity that will only make things worse in Virgin River?Looks like we’re in for a lot of fan theories and speculation. Until then, let’s continue to wait for Season 6, which is expected to be released in late 2024 or early 2025.
