Netflix has already found its next Virgin River and it’s with Josh Duhamel

Do you like the dramatic and romantic atmosphere of Virgin River?

Are you passionate about epics from literary sagas? The Netflix

streaming platform has your next favorite series. Indeed,

the American giant has just ordered a new series which “will trace the intersecting lives of three horse breeding families, against the backdrop of the rugged expanse of the Texas Hill Country”. The title of this new series? Ransom Canyon. The series is described as a romance-fueled contemporary family drama and western. Like the hit series Virgin River, adapted from the novels by Robyn Carr, this new fiction from writer, creator and executive producer April Blair is based on a series of contemporary romance books, Ransom Canyon, by Jodi Thomas. April Blair is known for her work on series like Hart of Dixie and Reign and the hit Netflix shows Wednesday and You.

Ransom Canyon, a Virgin River on a ranch with Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly

This new romantic drama series brings together two familiar faces to play the lead roles. The actor Josh Duhamel, known in particular for his roles in the cinema and in the series Las Vegas, will play Staten Kirkland. The latter is described as the owner and sole occupant of the sprawling Double K ranch. “Unwavering and stoic,” as described by Netflix, “Staten leads the charge to resist the outside forces that threaten his way of life and the land he lives on. ‘he likes”. At her side, actress Minka Kelly. Revealed by the series Friday Night Lights, which also took place in Texas, she will play Quinn, a character who “often found herself in the shadows of others”. After a stint in New York to pursue his career as a concert pianist, Quinn will arrive at Ransom Canyon to change his life.

Ransom Canyon: when Virgin River meets Yellowstone on Netflix

“It’s a multi-generational family series set on a ranch, and we say it’s Virgin River meets Yellowstone,” Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of drama and development, told Deadline in August 2022 about Ransom Canyon, then at the very beginning of preparation. The platform has ordered ten 60-minute episodes. The first two will be directed by Amanda Marsalis (Ozark, Umbrella Academy), while Dan Angel is also executive producer. We don’t yet know the release date.
