With his rising list of crimes in Emmerdale, surely it’s only a matter of time before the truth about John is discovered – but who is most likely to rumble him?
So far, it’s been revealed to viewers that John killed Nate. He also messed with Chas’s medication causing her to collapse, threw a brick through the pub window, put Jacob’s life in danger and attacked Liam.
On top of that, he also lied about Aidan Moore. John’s fiancé Aaron recently discovered that Aidan and John had been engaged and that Aidan was alive, despite John claiming he’d died.
As his secret life looks set to be exposed, we take a look at who is most likely to discover the truth about John Sugden.

Cain Dingle
John makes a costly error this week when he accidentally answers Nate’s phone. Hearing Cain’s voice on the other end, he panics before ending the call and throwing the phone.
He’s then enraged further when he hears Cain leaving a voicemail for Nate. Later, upon seeing how much Tracy is struggling, Cain announces that he is going up to Shetland to track down Nate.
If Cain makes it to Scotland, he’ll soon discover that Nate never arrived at his new job. This could set off a chain of events leading to Cain discovering the truth about his son’s death.

Mackenzie Boyd
It’s fair to say that Mack hasn’t been John’s biggest fan. Protective of his BFF Aaron, Mack is eager for Aaron to see John’s red flags.
After bumping into John’s army mate Connor, Mack wasted no time in rushing to tell Aaron that John had lied about Aidan. Mack then blocked John’s entry into the house, desperate to keep the two men apart.
A flash forward scene that aired earlier in the year showed Mack running from someone. One theory is Mack gets too close to the truth and John is forced to try and shut him up for good. Will Mack’s digging get him killed or will he be the one to expose John?

Aaron Dingle to rumble John in Emmerdale
He might be too close to the situation, but could Aaron Dingle be the one to rumble his fiancé’s dark side? Recent scenes have seen Aaron question John about keeping secrets from him, while telling John he was having doubts about the wedding.
Before the wedding goes ahead, Aaron may decide to dig a little deeper and discover exactly who he is marrying. He is best placed as he spends the most amount of time with John.
Fans agree, with one writing: “I think Aaron is figuring it all out, he had a strange look on his face at their flat when John came back from the doctors.” Another fan added: “Yeah I think it will be Aaron that puts a stop to him.”

Matty Barton
Another theory is that Matty will put the pieces of the puzzle together. Before she died, Amy tried to tell husband Matty that she’d seen Nate’s body in the water.
Matty struggled to understand what Amy was saying and that conversation has been lost. But perhaps Cain’s current focus on finding Nate will trigger a memory for Matty.
Matty’s new information could result in John becoming anxious, leading to Matty discovering he has something to do with it.

Chas Dingle and Dr Liam Cavanagh
John has been targeting his future mother-in-law Chas and her fiancé Liam. He switched Chas’s medication resulting in her collapsing and he attacked Liam. Both times he was of course around to be the hero.
He also sent an email cancelling their weeding and threw a brick through the pub window. Ella has been blamed for all the crimes, but will Liam and Chas realise the true culprit is closer to home?
Liam works with John at the surgery so is in a prime position to see through John, while Chas has always been a bit suspicious of her son in law, so could figure out his dark side.

Aidan Moore to out John in Emmerdale
He’s currently in a coma in a hospital in Leeds, but perhaps that won’t always be the case. Could Aidan wake up and share all he knows about John?
We know that Aidan and John were previously engaged. But we don’t know what exactly the state of their relationship was. Aidan could wake up and reveal details about John that put John firmly in the frame for all the recent goings on in the Dales.
One fan wrote on X: “Calling it now – Aidan Moore will wake up and walk in at John and Aaron’s wedding day and tell everyone what John really did.”
