EastEnders fans believe they have figured out the true identity of Shireen Bashar’s killer – and it’s not Teddy Mitchell.
In Wednesday’s episode (March 12), Nicola Mitchell (played by Laura Doddington) disclosed that her ex-husband Teddy was responsible for the death of their son Harry Mitchell’s (portrayed by Elijah Holloway) girlfriend Shireen.
The popular BBC One soap is currently unravelling a secret paternity plotline, with Nicola concealing the fact that Zack Hudson (James Farrar) is the biological father of her teenage son Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman).
Nicola had intended to keep Barney’s real father a secret, aware that Zack’s half-sister Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) had an affair with Teddy, her ex-husband Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp).

However, as Sharon – now privy to Barney’s paternity – engaged in a conversation with Teddy, Barney unexpectedly revealed the truth about Sharon’s infidelity to his father, reports Plymouth Live.
Teddy was left reeling from the revelation of Sharon’s betrayal in recent scenes, as she confessed about her fling with Grant, Teddy’s cousin, and apologised, labelling it a mistake.
Teddy’s anger escalated when Nicola entered in a clear state of panic – fearing the truth about Barney’s paternity had been exposed. However, Teddy was instead incensed at Nicola for being aware of Sharon’s infidelity and not informing him.

Zack was on the receiving end of a brutal beating from Teddy, who labelled him a “bully” with “little man syndrome” and brought up Sharon’s infidelity once more, leading to Teddy knocking Zack down and kicking him.
The altercation was halted by an upset Barney, pleading for it to stop, which resulted in Teddy offering an apology before exiting, as Nicola consoled Barney and Sharon attended to Zack’s injuries.

At Sharon’s place, she implored Zack to stay with her and urged him not to disclose the truth to Barney, fearing for his safety, but Zack was determined to leave. However, as he attempted to depart, Nicola turned up and overheard the siblings’ conversation, realising that Sharon was now aware of Barney’s true parentage, and cautioned them about the danger they were all in.

Nicola expressed her concern to both of them about revealing the truth to Teddy, hinting at the dark side they had just witnessed as a mere glimpse of his former self – the violent Teddy she once fell for.
Attributing Teddy’s transformation to Barney, Nicola voiced her fear of what Teddy might do if he were to lose Barney, alleging that Teddy is a murderer and was behind Shireen’s death.
Insisting that the truth would endanger everyone, Nicola advised them to remain silent or face the same fate as Shireen, although fans are sceptical about her honesty.
Social media has been buzzing with fan theories, with one viewer writing: “I think Nicola killed Harry’s ex.”
Another concurred: “Did Teddy really do that to Shireen or was it Nicola?”. A third comment read: “I’m not convinced Teddy is a killer. Maybe one of Nicola’s contacts were involved and she had to cover it up.”
Another commentator speculated: “I’m convinced it was actually Barney who killed Shireen and Nicola covered it up and Barney is blissfully unaware.”
Viewers are now eagerly anticipating the next development to discover whether Teddy is indeed accountable for his son’s girlfriend’s death or if there’s another unexpected turn of events.
