Emmerdale fans have figured out who the next target of the Dales’ new serial killer will be thanks to a flashback clue aired earlier this year.
On New Year’s Eve, the ITV soap aired a series of five flash-forwards to tease what’s to come in 2025. The flashback of a hand trapped under the ice officially aired as Amy was plunged into the depths of the lake after the limo crash, and subsequently lost her life.
Another flash forward showed Caleb flatlining in hospital, Cain standing at someone’s grave, a body bag being thrown into the water and Mackenzie running through the woods.
While fans think that the body bag could be a reference to either Anthony Fox or Nate Robinson, it’s Mackenzie running through the woods that has started a discussion thanks to recent episodes.
While there’s been no confirmation that actor Lawrence Robb will be leaving the ITV soap, there’s also yet to be an explanation as to why he would be running through the woods.

Viewers are convinced that there is a potential serial killer on the loose as Nate Robinson’s body was floating in the bottom of the lake after it was made to look as though he’d “left” for a new job opportunity in Shetland.
Taking to a thread on Reddit, u/Omega-Beta-Zeta suggested “I do think he’s gonna be a victim of the potential serial killer in the village” u/Current_Most7729 agreed: “I think Mack will be next, there was the clip of him running through the woods we haven’t seen yet”
u/TZ_Rezlus responded: “Basically, yeah. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the next big storyline in the upcoming months, finding out what happened with Nate, Cain finally finding out and maybe Mack finding out what John is like” as many fans believe John Sugden could be behind Nate’s death.

Another viewer on a Facebook fan page added: “It’s not looking like I am going to find out why Mac was running through the woods this week!! But I have a theory he could be running away from John!!”
On X (formerly known as Twitter), @krishanmaharaj shared the same thought: “here is my theory if it’s Nate in the lake, john killed him and then Mack finds out that’s why he is running for his life in the woods as John wants to shut him up, but this is if #Emmerdale go this way, it would explain a lot about John if he is a killer”.
